Communities Unite to Protect Kilifi’s Ocean
BAHA MADZO GADZE FOR CHARITY proudly joined the Kenya Scouts Association – Kilifi Branch, the Municipality of Kilifi, students from St. Thomas Comprehensive School, the Kazi Mtaani Project, and other environmental stakeholders in commemorating World Oceans Day 2026 at Vidazini Beach, Kilifi County.
The event was celebrated under the global theme: “Reimagine: Beyond the World We Know – A New Relationship with Our Ocean.”
The celebration combined environmental education with practical action through a large-scale beach cleanup and waste segregation exercise. Working together, participants successfully collected and sorted over 300 kilograms of waste, preventing plastics and other pollutants from entering the marine ecosystem and helping to protect Kenya’s coastline.
The activity demonstrated the power of community collaboration in addressing plastic pollution while inspiring young people and local residents to become environmental stewards.
BAHA MADZO GADZE FOR CHARITY sincerely appreciates all partners, volunteers, students, community members, and organizers whose dedication made this initiative a success.
